Find a Hernando County Booking, Verify the Arrest and Check the Court Outcome
Hernando County provides two different arrest-related searches. The Sheriff’s arrest inquiry covers arrests made by HCSO, while the Detention Center search covers people booked into the county jail by all participating law-enforcement agencies.
This guide explains both systems and brings the county’s bond, release, visitation, mail, phone, commissary, medical, property and court procedures into one page. The official portal is needed only for the live search, payment, scheduling or document request.

How to search Hernando County current and released inmates
What a Hernando County inmate result tells you
| Field | What it means | Practical next action |
|---|---|---|
| Booking number | The identifier assigned to that jail intake, commonly beginning with HCSO and JBN. | Use it for jail questions, mail, visitation and custody verification. |
| MNI number | The master-name identifier associated with the person in the Sheriff’s records system. | Use it for inmate deposits, mailed funds and identity matching. |
| Booking date and time | When the person entered the Hernando County booking process. | Compare it with the reported arrest time and distinguish newer and older bookings. |
| Release date and time | When that custody episode ended. | Do not interpret release as dismissal; check the criminal court case. |
| On hold | Another case, agency or legal condition may prevent release. | Ask which agency or matter controls the hold before paying bond. |
| Extradition | The person may be held for transfer to another jurisdiction. | Confirm the receiving jurisdiction and whether local charges remain. |
| On release | Release processing may be underway. | Wait for confirmation that the person has physically exited before traveling. |
| On loan to other agency | Another agency may temporarily control the person for court, investigation or transfer. | Ask the detention center which agency currently has physical custody. |
| Time served | The booking page may display the number of custody days associated with the stay. | Do not use it to calculate a legal release date without court confirmation. |
| Court case number | The case identifier used by the Hernando County court system. | Use it in the Clerk’s criminal case search. |
| Agency case number | The report or incident number used by the arresting agency. | Include it when requesting the arrest or incident report. |
| Case sequence | A booking can contain several separate cases labeled CASE0001, CASE0002 and so on. | Review each sequence separately because each can have its own charges, bond and court number. |
| Bond amount | The amount associated with a listed case or charge at the time displayed. | Confirm every case and hold before paying. |
| Bond conditions | Court-ordered restrictions such as no victim contact, GPS or other release conditions. | Read and follow every condition; paying bond does not cancel restrictions. |
| Statute and description | The Florida statute and abbreviated booking allegation. | Check the court docket because the State Attorney may file a different charge. |
| VINE | A link for custody-status notification registration when available. | Register for alerts, but recheck the official custody record for urgent decisions. |
