Search Green Bay Police Reports, Brown County Jail Bookings and Criminal Court Cases

A Green Bay arrest can appear in several different record systems. This guide connects those records in the correct order so you can confirm a recent arrest, distinguish current custody from an old booking, request the police report, locate the Brown County criminal case, separate Municipal Court ordinance cases from actual criminal prosecutions, obtain certified documents and correct or remove eligible Wisconsin criminal-history information.

A Green Bay Arrest Is Not the Same as a Criminal Conviction

Do not stop at a police or jail record. An arrest report describes law-enforcement action. A jail record documents custody. A criminal court docket shows what prosecutors filed and how the court resolved each count. These records can contain different charges because allegations may change after arrest.
Police event Green Bay Police or another agency records the incident and possible arrest.
Best source for the law-enforcement narrative.
County booking Brown County Jail records intake, custody and inmate information.
Booking does not establish guilt.
Circuit Court case The criminal prosecution is recorded through Brown County Circuit Court and WCCA.
Filed charges can differ from arrest charges.

Check every count separately.

How to Request a Green Bay Police Arrest or Incident Report

The Green Bay Police Department Records Division processes police open-record requests. The department asks for a completed DPPA Permissible Uses Form with each request.

Confirm Green Bay Police created the report. If Brown County Sheriff, Ashwaubenon Public Safety, another municipality, state police or another agency made the arrest, request the report from that agency instead.
Open the official Green Bay Police Records Requests page. Use GBPD Records Requests.
Complete the requested DPPA Permissible Uses information. The department uses the form when determining what protected motor-vehicle-related personal information may legally be released.
Name the exact record. Request the arrest report, incident report, citation, crash report, photograph, audio or video rather than asking broadly for “everything.”
Add event details. Include the full name, date, approximate time, Green Bay location and police case number when known.
Choose electronic delivery when practical. GBPD’s current records page states that records can be emailed without a copying charge.
Save the final response. Keep the police report number, released records, redaction explanation and any fee receipt with the matching jail and court records.

“I request an electronic copy of the releasable Green Bay Police arrest/incident report concerning __________ for the event on or about __________ at __________. The report number is __________ if known. Please advise me before processing if the estimated charge exceeds $__________.”

Email delivery $0 The current Police Records page states that records can be emailed without charge.
Paper copy $0.25 Published charge per paper page.
Multimedia media $0.24–$20 Published range for disc or USB media depending on the size of the requested files.
Prepayment >$5 GBPD says prepayment is generally required when the expected request cost exceeds $5.
DPPA limitation: Certain personal information connected to motor-vehicle records can be restricted under the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act. Completing the requested permissible-use form does not guarantee that every protected field will be released.

Brown County Sheriff Arrest and Investigative Records

If the Brown County Sheriff’s Office created the incident or arrest report, use the Sheriff’s Records process instead of Green Bay Police.

Sheriff Records requests The general public can submit a request for a redacted report through Brown County’s records-request process.
Processing guidance Brown County says Records requests may take up to 10 business days and asks requesters not to send duplicate requests.

Wisconsin Circuit Court Access

How to Search a Green Bay Criminal Case in WCCA

Wisconsin Circuit Court Access provides public case information for statewide circuit court cases. Brown County’s Clerk of Circuit Court links directly to WCCA/CCAP for current circuit-court records.

Open Wisconsin Circuit Court Access. Go to WCCA.
Read and accept the court-system terms. WCCA is a public case-information system, but the court warns that online information should be used within the stated limitations.
Search using the most specific identifier available. A case number is generally safer than a name-only search.
Limit the search to Brown County when appropriate. This helps separate the Green Bay/Brown County case from same-name defendants elsewhere in Wisconsin.
Match the criminal defendant carefully. Compare name, criminal case type, filing date, charge information and the known arrest timeline.
Read the case summary and charge section. Determine what charge was actually filed rather than copying the earlier police or booking allegation.
Read court dates, filings and orders in sequence. Later entries can change earlier warrant, charge, bond or hearing information.
Find the disposition of each count. Identify dismissal, conviction, acquittal, amendment or other final action rather than relying only on the overall case status.
What WCCA shows: Wisconsin Courts describes WCCA as public access to statewide circuit-court case information. It includes parties, court dates, filings and orders for eligible public cases.
What WCCA does not provide online: The Wisconsin Court System states that public case documents themselves are not generally displayed through WCCA. To inspect or obtain documents, use the Clerk of Circuit Court in the county where the case was filed.

Call Records before paying copy/search fees. Brown County instructs users to contact Records at 920-448-4521 before submitting payment for copy/search services.
Choose ordinary or certified copies. Use certification when a court, licensing agency, employer or legal process specifically requires official proof.
Older files may require advance retrieval. Brown County advises callers to contact Records before visiting when an older file may be stored off site.
Brown County access history: The Clerk states that cases can be viewed back to approximately 1990 on its public-access systems. Sealed, expunged, juvenile and certain other protected files are not viewable through WCCA.

How to Search Green Bay Municipal Court Records and Warrants

Green Bay Municipal Court provides a separate public inquiry site for city ordinance cases. It can be searched by name, citation ID and active warrants.

Open the Municipal Court Public Inquiry site. Use Green Bay Municipal Court Public Inquiry.
Choose a name, citation or active-warrant search. The portal supports public searches through these routes.
Match the citation carefully. Review citation ID, violation date, charge description and case status.
Read the disposition and balance. The portal can show disposition, disposition date, cost, due date, paid amount, court date and balance.
Do not describe a Municipal Court ordinance conviction as a criminal conviction. The City expressly states that Municipal Court convictions are civil ordinance violations.

Brown County criminal warrant Search the related criminal case in WCCA and read warrant-issued, service, cancellation or later docket events.
Need confirmation? Contact the responsible court or law-enforcement agency using a phone number independently obtained from the official website.
Do not rely on an old warrant entry: A warrant can later be served, recalled, quashed or otherwise resolved. Read the newest docket event and confirm directly when the information affects travel, surrender, bond or another legal decision.
Scam warning: Brown County specifically warns about callers impersonating officers and demanding bond money. Law enforcement will not call or text demanding money for bail, a warrant or citation through Bitcoin, Venmo, Cash App, gift cards or prepaid cards.
Brown County Jail bond procedures

How to Post Bond for a Brown County Jail Inmate

Brown County publishes two primary routes for legitimate jail bond payment: in person at the jail or through the county’s official AllPaid process.

In-person bond Go directly to Brown County Jail when paying through the facility.
Card transaction Published minimum service fee: $3.99.
eCheck Published minimum service fee: $2.00.
Cash bail through service Published service fee: 8.5%, with a $10 minimum.
Cashier’s-check delay: Brown County warns that a person using a cashier’s check may remain in custody while the check clears. The county currently says the process can take approximately 10–15 business days from the following Tuesday after bond is posted.
Call-center assistance: Brown County lists an additional $3.50 fee for transactions completed with call-center representative assistance.
Verify the inmate and current bond first. Use the jail lookup and court case rather than an amount sent by an unknown caller.
Check every connected case or hold. Payment on one matter may not resolve another active hold.
Use only the official county payment route. Start from the Brown County Posting Bond page.
Save the receipt. Record the defendant, payment date, amount, transaction reference and case information.

Wisconsin statewide criminal history

Use Wisconsin DOJ WORCS for a Broader Criminal-History Search

Wisconsin Department of Justice maintains the state Centralized Criminal History database through the Crime Information Bureau. Public adult criminal-history requests are available through the Wisconsin Online Record Check System, known as WORCS.

Use WORCS when one local court or jail search is not enough. Open Wisconsin Online Record Check System.
Submit the identifying information carefully. Name-based criminal-history searches can produce false matches.
Read the entire result instead of only the first charge. Wisconsin criminal-history records can contain arrest, prosecutor and court sections.
Compare the disposition with WCCA. Arrest charges and prosecutor charges can differ without meaning that either record is necessarily wrong.
Save the WORCS order reference. WORCS states that prior online results remain available for six months.
What Wisconsin DOJ’s CCH contains: The central repository includes fingerprint-supported arrest information, prosecution information, court findings, sentences and certain Wisconsin Department of Corrections information.
What it may not contain: Wisconsin DOJ warns that its criminal-history record may not contain every item maintained by local police departments, local courts or federal agencies.
Name-search warning: Wisconsin DOJ says a name-based result can belong to a different person with the same or similar identifying information. A fingerprint-supported challenge is available when mistaken identity is suspected.
Three very different Wisconsin remedies

Expungement, Arrest Removal and Mistaken-Identity Challenges

Problem Possible route What it can affect
Eligible conviction ordered expunged Wis. Stat. § 973.015 / court process Expungement addresses the court record under Wisconsin law; it is not the same as erasing every police or DOJ arrest record.
Arrest ended without qualifying conviction Wisconsin DOJ Fingerprint Record Removal Request Certain eligible arrest information in the state criminal-history repository may be removed after case-by-case review.
Someone else’s record appears under your identity Wisconsin Criminal History Challenge Fingerprint comparison can separate a false match and may result in a WiUPIN.

Wisconsin court expungement

Age requirement Wisconsin’s principal adult expungement statute applies to qualifying people who were under age 25 when the offense was committed.
Offense limitation The ordinary statute applies only to eligible offenses meeting statutory sentencing and offense restrictions.
Timing matters Wisconsin case law generally requires the court’s expungement decision under § 973.015 to be made at sentencing, with expungement taking effect after successful completion when ordered.
Expungement is narrower than many people expect: Wisconsin DOJ specifically explains that expungement of a court record does not by itself qualify an arrest event for removal from the state criminal-history repository.

Wisconsin DOJ arrest-record removal

Examples DOJ identifies as potentially eligible Release without charges being filed, no prosecution by the District Attorney, court dismissal or acquittal may support a removal request, subject to case-by-case review.
Examples DOJ identifies as not eligible Arrest events resulting in conviction, court-record expungement by itself, a governor’s pardon, certain dismissed-read-in situations and charges amended to a lesser offense resulting in conviction.
Form: Wisconsin DOJ identifies the Fingerprint Record Removal Request as Form DJ-LE-250B for qualifying arrest-removal requests.

Mistaken identity or false match

Obtain fingerprints from a law-enforcement agency. Wisconsin DOJ requires an applicant fingerprint card for the challenge process.
Complete Wisconsin Criminal History Challenge Form DJ-LE-247. Mark the mistaken-identity or false-match issue when that is the reason for the challenge.
Submit the fingerprint card and challenge form to the Crime Information Bureau. DOJ compares the fingerprints with the person associated with the reported arrest.
Use a WiUPIN after a successful challenge. DOJ can assign a Wisconsin Unique Personal Identification Number to help prevent the challenged record from being returned in future searches.
DOJ challenge fee: Wisconsin DOJ states that it does not charge a fee to request a criminal-history challenge, although the law-enforcement agency taking fingerprints may charge for fingerprinting.

From a Green Bay Arrest to the Final Court Record

Police action GBPD or another law-enforcement agency creates the incident or arrest record.
Brown County booking Jail intake creates the custody record and inmate identifier.
Charging Prosecutors determine what state charge, if any, will be filed.
Circuit Court proceedings WCCA reflects hearings, orders, filings, warrants and case activity.
Disposition / record relief Verify the final outcome and later expungement, correction or eligible arrest-removal action.
Do not merge the stages: A booking charge is not automatically the prosecutor’s filed charge, and an expunged court record does not automatically mean every law-enforcement or DOJ record disappeared.

Title-specific Green Bay search questions

Green Bay WI Arrest Records Search FAQs

1. How do I search for a recent arrest in Green Bay, Wisconsin?

Start with the Brown County Jail Inmate Lookup Tool because people arrested in Green Bay may be booked into Brown County Jail. Search by first and last name or inmate number, and select the released-inmate option when the person is no longer in custody. Then search Wisconsin Circuit Court Access for the related criminal case.

2. Does Green Bay Police have its own jail inmate search?

No. Green Bay Police maintains police incident and arrest records, while Brown County Jail maintains the county inmate lookup. Use Green Bay Police Records for the police report and Brown County Jail for current or former county custody information.

3. How do I request a Green Bay Police arrest report?

Use the Green Bay Police Records Requests page and complete the requested DPPA Permissible Uses Form. Provide the person’s name, event date, location, police report number when known and the specific record requested. The Records Department can be reached at 920-448-3329.

4. How much does Green Bay Police charge for arrest-report copies?

The current Green Bay Police Records page says records can be emailed without a copying charge, paper copies cost $0.25 per page, and multimedia provided on disc or USB can range from $0.24 to $20 depending on file size. Prepayment is generally required when the expected request cost exceeds $5.

5. How do I search Green Bay criminal court cases?

Use Wisconsin Circuit Court Access and search Brown County for the criminal case. A case number is the safest identifier when available. Review the filed charges, court dates, filings, orders and disposition rather than relying only on the original police or booking charge.

6. Is Green Bay Municipal Court the same as Brown County criminal court?

No. Green Bay Municipal Court handles city ordinance cases and states that its convictions are civil ordinance violations, not misdemeanors or criminal convictions. State felony and misdemeanor prosecutions are handled through Brown County Circuit Court and can be searched through Wisconsin Circuit Court Access.

7. How much are Brown County criminal court record copies?

Brown County currently publishes a $1.25 per-page copy fee, an additional $5 certification fee for each certified document and a $5 search fee when the requester does not provide a case number. Contact Court Records Management at 920-448-4521 before paying copy or search fees.

8. How do I post bond for someone in Brown County Jail?

Brown County says legitimate bond payments can be made in person at the jail or through the official AllPaid route linked by the county. Verify the inmate, every case and the current bond first. The county warns that law enforcement will not call or text demanding bond money through gift cards, cryptocurrency, Venmo or similar methods.

9. How do I search statewide Wisconsin criminal history instead of only Green Bay records?

Use the Wisconsin Department of Justice Wisconsin Online Record Check System, or WORCS, for public adult criminal-history requests. DOJ warns that name-based results can produce false matches and that its state repository may not contain every record held by local police, courts or federal agencies.

10. Can a Green Bay arrest record be removed or expunged?

Wisconsin uses different procedures for court expungement, eligible arrest-record removal and mistaken-identity correction. Court expungement under Wisconsin law does not automatically erase police or DOJ arrest information. Wisconsin DOJ separately allows case-by-case Fingerprint Record Removal requests for certain eligible arrests and fingerprint-supported challenges for mistaken identity.
