Cuyahoga County Jail, Arrest & Criminal Court Guide
Find Cuyahoga County Bookings, Arrest Reports, Bonds and Criminal Court Cases
Cuyahoga County arrest records are divided among the arresting police agency, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department, Corrections Center and several courts. The jail record tells you about custody, while the Common Pleas or Municipal Court docket tells you what was actually filed and how the case progressed.
This guide connects those systems so you can find daily jail information, call the booking desk, request a Sheriff’s or Cleveland Police arrest report, search felony court cases, understand bond entries, identify municipal-court cases, obtain certified records and use an Ohio BCI background check when a local search is not enough.

Cuyahoga County Arrest Records Are Not One Single Database
A jail roster is not a conviction search. A person can appear in county custody before charges are formally filed, and the charge entering the jail can later be changed, dismissed or replaced in court.
Police / Sheriff report
Explains the law-enforcement incident and should be requested from the agency that created it.
Jail booking
Shows the custody event and available inmate information maintained by Corrections.
Court docket
Shows formal criminal charges, hearings, motions, bond entries and disposition.
BCI check
Used for a formal Ohio criminal-background-check purpose rather than a single county booking lookup.
Presumption of innocence: An arrest, indictment, warrant or jail record does not prove guilt. Use the final court disposition when you need to know how the criminal case was resolved.

Cleveland is not the entire county court system. Cuyahoga County includes Cleveland Municipal Court and multiple other municipal courts. Search the court serving the place where the offense or case originated, then check Common Pleas if a felony is indicted or otherwise filed there.

How to Search the Cuyahoga County Jail Roster
The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s inmate page directs users to the official Sheriff’s mobile app for daily jail rosters. People in county custody can be housed at the main Corrections Center or at satellite locations used by the Sheriff’s Department.
Use the official Cuyahoga County Sheriff app.
The County directs users to the app for daily jail rosters, Sheriff notifications and inmate-service information.
Search the person’s legal name.
Try a surname-first search and check spelling, middle-name and suffix variations.
Match more than the name.
Compare available age, booking information, charges, court or other identifying information.
Determine whether the person remains in custody.
A prior booking does not guarantee the person is still housed at the Corrections Center.
Record the court information.
Copy any case number or charge information that can be used in the Clerk of Courts criminal search.
Check the criminal docket next.
Use the court docket to see bond entries, formal charges, hearings and disposition.
Main facility: Cuyahoga County Corrections Center, 1215 W. 3rd Street, Cleveland, OH 44113. The County describes Jail I and Jail II as the primary Corrections Center facilities.
For very recent arrests
Cuyahoga County Booking Desk Numbers and Intake Timing
When an arrest is too recent to locate easily online, the Sheriff’s booking desk is the practical verification point.
Published booking operation: The Corrections Center lists ordinary prisoner drop-off and pickup hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Prisoners being booked on County warrants can be booked at any time.
- Have the person’s legal name ready
- Know approximate arrest time
- Know arresting police agency if possible
- Ask whether intake is complete
- Ask whether the person is housed at a satellite location
- Ask for the court or case-number information when releasable

Arrest happened minutes or hours ago
Fingerprinting, identification, medical screening and booking may still be underway.

Search the court docket even if current jail information is no longer available.

The Sheriff states county inmates may be housed outside the primary Corrections Center.
Case is in Municipal Court
A misdemeanor or preliminary felony case can begin in a municipal court rather than Common Pleas.
Case moved to Common Pleas
A felony can later have a separate Common Pleas case after indictment or transfer.
Different city made the arrest
Request the incident report from that city’s police department, not automatically Cleveland Police.
Person entered state prison
Use Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction rather than the county jail.
Record is sealed or otherwise confidential
Legally restricted criminal records may not appear in public searches.

Compare case number, filing date, charges and identifying case information.
Read the docket chronologically.
Look for indictment, arraignment, bond, counsel, motions, hearings, plea, trial and sentencing events.

Sealing or Expunging a Cuyahoga County Criminal Record
Ohio record-sealing and expungement rules have changed over time and eligibility depends on the complete criminal history, offense, disposition, waiting period and current law. Avoid using an old online eligibility checklist as the final answer.
Identify every case
Search the applicable Common Pleas and municipal court records and obtain missing dispositions.
Determine eligibility
Evaluate the current Ohio statute, offense type, disposition and complete conviction history.
File in the correct court
A Common Pleas felony record and a municipal misdemeanor record may require different filing routes.
Verify the final order
Keep the signed court order and confirm that appropriate agencies received it.
Private websites are separate: Even after a court seals or expunges an eligible official record, copied information previously collected by independent websites may require separate correction or removal requests.
