Arlington, Texas Police & Court Record Guide
Find Arlington Arrest, Jail, Police Report and Court Records
An Arlington arrest can create several records in different systems. Check the Arlington City Jail for current custody, Jail History for a past local booking, Arlington Police incident reports for the underlying event, Municipal Court for City Class C cases and warrants, and Tarrant County for felony or county-level misdemeanor court proceedings.
This page shows what to search first, how to match the correct person, where a case goes after arrest, why an arrest may disappear from the city jail list, and how to request a report that is not publicly displayed online.

Which Arlington Arrest Record System Should You Use?
Currently in Arlington City Jail
Use the live Jail Inmate List. It displays current booking information, arrest agency, charges, warrant numbers when shown, dispositions and bail information.
Previously booked in Arlington
Use Jail History Search and choose a date range. This is more useful after a person has been released or transferred and no longer appears on the current inmate list.
Need the police incident report
Use Arlington Police Public Report Search when the report is publicly releasable. Most releasable reports become available about 72 hours after the report is taken.
Need the criminal court case
Municipal Class C matters stay with Arlington Municipal Court. Higher-level misdemeanors and felonies generally move into Tarrant County criminal court systems.
An arrest record is not a conviction record. A booking shows that a person was taken into custody or processed on an allegation or warrant. Charges may later be rejected, reduced, dismissed, deferred, resolved through plea or tried in court.
Choose the Exact Arlington Record You Need
Confirm someone is in custody now
Search the live Arlington Jail Inmate List first. If no result appears, check Tarrant County inmate custody before assuming the person was released.
Find a past Arlington booking
Search Jail History by date range after the current inmate listing no longer shows the person.
Read an Arlington police report
Search by APD case number or by incident date plus the full name of a person involved.
Check a City of Arlington warrant
Use Municipal Court’s warrant information for Class C matters and verify questionable information directly with the court.
Find the criminal court case
Determine whether the case is municipal, Tarrant County misdemeanor or Tarrant County felony before choosing the court database.
Request a report not available online
Submit a written Police Open Records Request through Arlington’s official records portal.
Arlington Arrest Records Quick Navigation
One event can create several separate public records
From Police Contact to Court Record: Follow the Right Trail
1
Police incident
Arlington Police creates a case or incident record. The case number becomes one of the strongest search identifiers.
2
Arrest / booking
If the person is booked into Arlington City Jail, the live jail system can show booking name, booking number, charges, agency and bail.
3
Custody decision
The person may bond out, be released, remain in Arlington custody or transfer to another jail.
4
Case filing
A Class C matter may remain in Municipal Court; a higher-level criminal charge may move into Tarrant County.
5
Court disposition
Court records—not the booking line—show later filing, plea, dismissal, conviction, sentencing or other disposition when publicly available.
Best practice: Use the arrest or booking record to locate the incident and identifiers, then use the appropriate court record to understand what eventually happened to the charge.
How to Search the Arlington City Jail Inmate List
The City of Arlington publishes a live inmate list for people currently shown in Arlington City Jail custody. The list is updated frequently—currently every five minutes—so it is the fastest official first check for a recent Arlington booking.
Look for the booking name.
Names may be displayed in LAST, FIRST format. Compare the full booking name rather than relying on surname alone.
Check arrival date and time.
This helps distinguish two people with similar names and confirms whether the booking corresponds with the incident you are researching.
Copy the case number.
Arlington booking entries can include an APD case number such as a year plus an incident identifier. Save it for the police report search.
Copy the booking number.
The booking number identifies the jail event and is useful when asking the jail about custody or release.
Read every listed agency and charge.
One booking can include Arlington Police charges, municipal warrants or holds connected with another agency.
Review bail carefully.
A $0 amount does not automatically mean the person can walk out without further processing. Holds, non-bondable conditions or a court decision may affect release.
If the person disappears from the live list, continue searching.
Move to Arlington Jail History and Tarrant County Inmate Search before deciding that the person was simply released.

Charge, agency and bail
Do not publish or reuse somebody’s booking information without context. An arrest is an allegation-stage event. Verify identity and later court disposition before drawing conclusions about a person.
Search Past Arlington Jail Bookings by Date
Use Arlington Jail History when the person is no longer on the current jail list or when you are researching an older Arlington booking.
Select a beginning date.
Start slightly before the date you believe the arrest or booking occurred.
Select an ending date.
Use a narrow range first. Expanding several days at a time is more efficient than starting with an unnecessarily broad period.
Compare the returned booking information.
Match name, booking date, case number, charge and agency.
Use the APD case number to continue.
A matching case number can connect the booking to a releasable police incident report.
Move from booking to court.
Search the appropriate court system for the later case rather than treating jail history as the final disposition.
Why current and historical searches are separate: The current inmate list answers “Who is shown in Arlington custody now?” Jail History answers “Was this person booked in Arlington during an earlier period?”
Six Fields to Match Before You Use an Arlington Arrest Record
Full name
Match spelling carefully.
Booking date
Confirm the correct event.
Booking number
Identify the custody event.
Case number
Connect to police records.
Agency
Arlington or another agency.
Charge
Read exact wording and level.
Common-name warning: Never match someone based only on a first and last name. A booking date, case number, booking number and other non-sensitive identifiers can prevent a serious mistaken-identity error.
How to Search Arlington Police Incident Reports
The public police-report system is useful when you need the incident narrative or public details behind an Arlington Police case rather than only the jail booking.
Use the case number when you have it.
Arlington says the case number is typically the year of the incident followed by an eight-digit number in the format YYYY-XXXXXXXX.
Otherwise use incident date plus full name.
The City says a public report can also be searched using the incident date and full name of an individual involved.
Open the public version.
Confirm the incident location, offense description, involved parties and report identifiers.
Save the case number.
Use it in later requests to APD Records Services or when connecting the incident with booking and court records.
If nothing appears, check timing and release restrictions.
A missing online report does not automatically mean the incident did not occur.
Fastest connection: Arlington Jail booking → copy APD case number → Public Report Search → court case lookup.
Why a New Arlington Police Report May Not Appear Immediately
0h
Incident occurs
Officers create or begin the police report and assign a case number.
24h
Processing continues
A report may still be undergoing completion, review or data entry.
72h
Many reports become searchable
Arlington states that most releasable reports are available in Police Records about 72 hours after the report is taken.
REQ
Request when necessary
If the report is not publicly displayed and you believe it may be releasable, use the written Open Records process.
Do not repeatedly change the spelling when the report is only hours old. For a very recent incident, the better explanation may simply be normal processing time.
Some Arlington Police Reports Are Not Publicly Viewable Online
The City lists several categories that are not legally releasable to the general public through the normal online incident-report search.
Juvenile suspect cases
Reports involving a suspect younger than 17 may be restricted.
Minor victims
Reports involving a victim younger than 18 can be withheld from the general public.
Sexual-assault allegations
These reports are not made generally viewable through the public online tool.
Teacher/student allegations
Certain inappropriate teacher/student relationship reports are restricted.
Mental-health matters
Reports involving mental-health commitments or offenses at mental-health institutions can be restricted.
Undercover investigations
Narcotics, gambling and similar undercover investigative records may not be publicly displayed.
Non-disclosure orders
A court order can legally restrict public access.
Expunged records
Expungement can remove or restrict records as directed by law.
Sealed matters
Sealed records are not treated like ordinary public incident reports.
No online result is not proof of “no record.” The report may be too new, legally restricted, sealed, expunged, entered under different information or maintained in a different agency’s system.
Request an Arlington Police Record That Is Not Available Online
Many Arlington Police records can be requested under the Texas Public Information Act. Arlington requires the request to be in writing and provides an online Open Records portal.
Collect identifiers before filing.
Write down the APD case number, incident date, location, involved names and the exact record you want.
Create the free portal account.
Arlington says the account provides a direct communication channel with the Police Records Services Division.
Describe the record specifically.
Ask for the particular incident report, supplemental report or other identifiable record rather than requesting “everything about” a broad topic.
Include the case number.
The case number substantially reduces the chance of searching the wrong incident.
Watch the portal for updates.
The department can communicate about clarification, cost, release or withholding through the request account.
“I am requesting the releasable public records associated with Arlington Police case number __________, incident date __________, and location __________. Please provide the public version of the requested record and notify me of any applicable cost or withheld portions.”
What an Arlington Jail Booking Entry Actually Means
Arrival Date / Time
When the jail record shows the person arriving into the Arlington booking process. It is not necessarily the exact moment police first detained the person.
Case Number
The incident or case identifier that can help connect a booking with an Arlington Police public report.
Booking Name
The name entered into the jail system. Always compare it with other identifying details.
Booking Number
A specific identifier for the jail booking event rather than the criminal court case itself.
Arrest Location
The location or jurisdiction text associated with the arrest record. It may not be the person’s residence.
Agency
The law-enforcement or warranting agency associated with a listed charge.
Charge
The alleged offense or warrant matter associated with the booking.
Warrant Number
A warrant identifier may appear for charges based on an existing warrant.
Bail
The amount shown for the listed charge when applicable. Eligibility, holds and release procedures may still require confirmation.
Disposition belongs in the court record. The jail record documents custody and booking. Search the correct court system to learn whether a prosecutor filed the allegation and how the case was ultimately resolved.
Where Does an Arlington Arrest Go to Court?
Arlington Municipal Court
Primarily City of Arlington Class C misdemeanor citations and municipal matters. Use this system for local citations, municipal warrants, court dates and related Class C case information.
Tarrant County Misdemeanor Courts
Higher-level misdemeanor criminal cases are handled through Tarrant County’s county criminal court system rather than Arlington Municipal Court.
Tarrant County Felony Courts
Felony matters are handled in Tarrant County district criminal courts at the county criminal justice level.
The arrest location does not determine the final court database by itself. Use the charge level, filing agency, case number and court information to route the search.
Arlington Municipal Court Citation and Case Search
Use Arlington Municipal Court when the matter is a City of Arlington Class C citation, municipal warrant or related local case.
Allow new citations time to enter the system.
The Municipal Court says it may take several business days for an officer’s citation to be submitted and entered.
Search the citation.
Use the citation identifier and defendant information shown on the ticket.
Check the appearance deadline.
Arlington says a citation normally gives an appearance date rather than an automatically scheduled trial date.
Do not assume a phone call counts as an appearance.
Follow the written or in-person appearance requirements shown by the court.
Verify a scheduled hearing before traveling.
The Court advises checking online or calling because a trial, hearing or pretrial docket can be cancelled or rescheduled.

How to Check Arlington Municipal Warrants Safely
The Municipal Court publishes City of Arlington warrant information for Class C misdemeanor matters. The list is updated weekly rather than continuously.
1
Use the official court page
Begin with Arlington Municipal Court’s Warrants or Posting Bond page.
2
Compare the person carefully
A name match should be confirmed with court information before any payment or action.
3
Verify directly
Call Municipal Court at 817-459-6777 if a listing appears incorrect or uncertain.
4
Resolve through official channels
Use the court’s stated appearance, payment or bond route rather than an unsolicited caller.
Safe Harbor Court: Arlington states that people may appear at Municipal Court to address outstanding Arlington Municipal Court cases without fear of being arrested there solely for warrants issued by that court.
Warrant scam alert: Arlington Municipal Court says it will not call demanding immediate payment for warrants. If a caller claims you have a warrant, independently call the City’s Warrant Unit at
817-459-5748 or Municipal Court at
817-459-6777.
No Longer in Arlington Jail? Check Tarrant County Custody
An Arlington arrest can eventually appear in Tarrant County custody, particularly when the matter involves county-level misdemeanor or felony charges. A missing Arlington live-jail result therefore does not prove release.
Search the person’s name.
Compare the spelling used in Arlington’s booking record with the county result.
Review charges and custody information.
Determine whether the person is now shown in a county detention facility.
Check bond information.
Use the Tarrant County Sheriff’s bond-information route for current county custody.
Move to the criminal court system.
Once the charge is filed, court records provide better disposition information than the jail page.

Fort Worth, TX 76196
County jail scale
Tarrant County reports a jail capacity of approximately 5,000 inmates across five facilities.
Find the Tarrant County Criminal Case After an Arlington Arrest
Tarrant County reports 11 district courts handling felony criminal matters and 10 county criminal courts handling misdemeanor matters.

Arlington and Tarrant County Bond Information
Arlington City Jail
The City permits online bail for eligible people in custody. Arlington states that Class B or higher charges and some other-agency charges are not bondable through its GovPayNet route.
Tarrant County Jail
Bonds may be posted 24 hours a day at the Bond Desk, Tarrant County Corrections Center, 100 N. Lamar, Fort Worth. Call 817-884-3000 to confirm whether bond has been set and the amount.
Do not interpret “$0 bail” without confirming custody status. A zero amount can occur for several reasons and does not by itself establish that immediate release is available.
Arlington Arrest Record Search Problems and Fixes
| Problem |
What to Try |
Why It Happens |
| Recent arrest not in Arlington jail list |
Recheck shortly, then call the jail and search Tarrant County custody. |
Booking processing or transfer timing can separate arrest time from online display. |
| Person disappeared from current inmate list |
Search Arlington Jail History and Tarrant County Inmate Search. |
The person may have been released, bonded, transferred or moved to county custody. |
| Police report does not appear |
Allow about 72 hours, then search by case number or date plus full name. |
Most reports require processing before public availability. |
| Report still does not appear after several days |
Check whether it falls into a restricted category and consider an Open Records Request. |
Some incident types cannot be publicly viewed online. |
| Municipal citation missing |
Wait several business days and search again. |
The officer’s citation must first be submitted and entered by the court clerk. |
| Booking exists but court case does not |
Recheck after the prosecutor or clerk has had time to file the matter. |
Arrest and court filing are separate events. |
| Municipal Court has no case |
Check whether the charge is a higher-level misdemeanor or felony and search Tarrant County. |
Not every Arlington arrest is prosecuted in Arlington Municipal Court. |
| Tarrant County inmate search has no result |
Search Arlington current and historical jail records and confirm exact spelling. |
The person may never have transferred to county custody. |
| Common name matches several people |
Use booking date, case number, booking number, agency and charge. |
Name-only criminal-record matching is unreliable. |
| Old record cannot be found |
Check jail history, court records and records-request options. |
Records may be outside the live portal, sealed, expunged, nondisclosed or held in another system. |
“I am trying to identify the correct Arlington record for __________. The incident or arrest occurred around __________. I have case number __________ / booking number __________ if available. Can you confirm which public record system or request process applies?”
Practical Arlington Arrest-Record Scenarios
Family cannot find a recent arrestee
Check the live Arlington jail list, call 817-459-5648, then check Tarrant County Inmate Search in case custody moved.
Employer finds a booking online
Do not treat the booking as proof of guilt. Verify the later court filing and disposition and follow applicable employment-screening law.
Victim needs an incident report
Search by case number after the normal processing period or use the official Open Records route if the report is not publicly displayed.
Person has an Arlington Class C warrant
Verify through Municipal Court and use the official Safe Harbor or resolution process instead of responding to an unsolicited payment demand.
Felony arrest occurred in Arlington
Use Arlington booking data to obtain identifiers, then move to Tarrant County inmate and felony court systems.
Old arrest appears but no conviction
Search the court disposition. Arrest, filing and conviction are separate legal events.
Report involves a juvenile or sexual assault
Do not expect the ordinary public-report search to display the case. Release rules are more restrictive.
Person says a warrant call is a scam
Hang up and independently call Arlington Municipal Court or the official Warrant Unit.
Booking shows another agency
Follow the listed agency and warrant information rather than assuming Arlington controls every charge.

Tarrant County directs people needing statewide criminal-history checks to the Texas Department of Public Safety rather than treating the county jail record as a statewide background check.
County criminal-warrant limitation: Tarrant County Sheriff states that it does not release general criminal-warrant information to the public and directs people seeking that information to a licensed bondsman or attorney. Arlington Municipal Court’s City Class C warrant system is different.

County-CAD.org is an independent informational guide. It is not affiliated with the Arlington Police Department, Arlington City Jail, Arlington Municipal Court, Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Tarrant County District Clerk, Tarrant County criminal courts or the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Arrest, booking and police records may contain allegations rather than final findings. Records can also be corrected, restricted, sealed, expunged, made subject to nondisclosure or moved between agencies.
