Find a Miami Booking, Police Report and Criminal Court Outcome
One Miami arrest can create several records: a Miami-Dade jail booking, a Miami Police or Miami-Dade Police report, a bond entry, a County Criminal misdemeanor case or a Circuit Criminal felony case.
This guide explains which record answers each question, how to search the jail roster, what each result field means, what happens during booking, how to request police and corrections records, where to verify the court outcome and how family members can handle mail, phone calls, deposits and release.
At least three surname letters.
Search may show the last 72 hours.

How to search Miami-Dade jail records correctly
What each Miami-Dade inmate field means
| Field | What it identifies | What it does not prove | Best next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jail number | The inmate within Miami-Dade Corrections. | It does not explain the final court outcome. | Use it for mail, deposits, records and facility calls. |
| Booking date and time | When the person entered the county booking process. | It may differ from the incident or arrest time. | Compare it with the known arrest timeline. |
| Location | The present facility or monitored-release designation. | The location will remain unchanged. | Confirm before visiting, mailing legal items or travelling. |
| Charge | The allegation entered during arrest or booking. | It does not establish guilt and may differ from the prosecutor’s filing. | Search the related Clerk criminal case. |
| Bond amount | The bond currently associated with a listed charge. | Paying it will clear another charge, warrant or hold. | Check every charge and confirm the release total. |
| Mugshot | A booking photograph taken during custody processing. | A mugshot is not evidence of guilt or conviction. | Use it only with stronger identity information. |
| Date of birth | A key biographical identity field. | A same-date result is the correct person by itself. | Compare it with the jail number, name and case number. |
| Release listing | A person released during the county’s recent-release window. | The criminal case ended or the charge was dismissed. | Continue to the court docket. |

How to obtain a City of Miami arrest or incident report
A booking record does not contain the full police narrative. For an arrest made by the Miami Police Department, request the existing report from the City of Miami or contact the Police Records Unit.
444 SW 2nd Ave., 9th Floor
Miami, FL 33130
Identify the document rather than asking for “everything”
The primary police report describing the event and initial response.
The record connected with the officer’s arrest action and allegations.
A sworn or signed statement explaining the asserted basis for the arrest when one exists.
Later reports created by investigators or additional responding officers.
Describe the officer, date, location and narrow time range to reduce review work.
Request this from the Miami-Dade Clerk rather than the police department.
Information that helps the city locate the report
Requesting Miami-Dade jail and incarceration documents
Corrections records are different from arrest reports. Miami-Dade Corrections maintains jail, booking, incarceration and departmental records, while the arresting police agency maintains its arrest and incident narrative.
| Document needed | Likely custodian | Information to include |
|---|---|---|
| Booking or incarceration record | Miami-Dade Corrections | Full name, date of birth, jail number and booking date. |
| Custody-location history | Miami-Dade Corrections | Jail number and requested date range. |
| Release verification | Miami-Dade Corrections | Full name, jail number and custody dates. |
| Arrest or incident report | Arresting police agency | Report number, date, location and involved name. |
| Filed charge or disposition | Miami-Dade Clerk | Case number, case year and defendant’s date of birth. |

How to check what happened after a Miami arrest
Miami-Dade Criminal Court has two primary levels: County Criminal for misdemeanors and Circuit Criminal for felonies.
| Term | Plain-language meaning | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | The case has not reached a final disposition. | Check the next hearing and newest docket entry. |
| Information filed | The State Attorney filed formal charges. | Compare every count with the jail allegation. |
| Nolle prosequi | The prosecutor announced that a charge would not be pursued at that time. | Confirm which defendant and counts the notice covers. |
| Dismissed | The court dismissed a charge or case. | Check whether every count was dismissed. |
| Adjudication withheld | The court withheld formal adjudication under the circumstances shown in the case. | It is not the same as dismissal; read the plea and sentence. |
| Adjudicated guilty | The court entered a judgment of guilt. | Review the exact charge and sentence. |
| Acquitted | The defendant was found not guilty of the resolved count. | Determine whether other counts remained. |
| Closed | The file is no longer active. | Closed alone does not explain how the case ended. |

Miami arrest-record questions answered
How do I find someone arrested in Miami?
Search Miami-Dade Corrections using at least three letters of the last name. Add the first name when needed and verify the date of birth, jail number, booking date, charges and location.
Does the inmate search show mugshots?
Yes. Results may include a booking photograph along with identity, custody, charge and bond information. A mugshot does not prove guilt.
Can I find someone released from jail?
The county search includes a recent-release listing covering approximately the previous 72 hours. Search the Clerk court system for an older arrest or case.
Why does the jail charge differ from the court charge?
The jail displays the allegation entered during booking. The State Attorney may later file a different charge, reduce a charge or decline prosecution.
Where do I request a Miami Police arrest report?
Contact the Miami Police Records Unit at 305-603-6477 or submit a City public-record request naming the Police Department, date, location, involved person and report number.
How do I obtain a certified criminal disposition?
Order it through the Miami-Dade Clerk. A certified local criminal-history disposition letter costs $7, plus $2 per name for each year searched when the case year or number is unknown.
Where do I mail an inmate letter?
Use the inmate’s full name and jail number, Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, P.O. Box 20527, Tampa, FL 33622.
How do I deposit inmate money?
Use TouchPay online, by telephone at 866-232-1899 or through an approved facility kiosk. Enter facility number 233101, the inmate’s name and jail number.
How long does release take after bond is paid?
There is no guaranteed release time. Booking completion, court processing, payment verification, holds and release scheduling can cause several hours of additional processing.
How much is a statewide Florida criminal-history search?
The FDLE public search costs $24. The instant online option adds a $1 card-processing fee and is not certified.
How do I correct an inaccurate Florida record?
Use FDLE Personal Review for your own Florida record. Fingerprints are required, but FDLE does not charge for the Personal Review service.
Can a dismissed Miami arrest still appear?
Yes. Florida criminal-history records can remain public after dismissal or no prosecution unless automatic sealing applies or a court orders the record sealed or expunged.
