Rhode Island Criminal Record Search: Choose the Record That Answers Your Question
Rhode Island does not place every arrest-related detail in one public database. The Judiciary shows court dockets, the Attorney General issues official state BCI reports, police agencies maintain arrest reports, and RIDOC shows state correctional custody.
This guide explains what each system contains, what it excludes, how much official checks cost, how to request police documents, how to verify a same-name result and how to correct or clear an eligible record.

What remote users can and cannot see

| District Court case | May involve a misdemeanor or an initial felony arraignment and bail proceeding. | Check whether a felony matter later moved to Superior Court. |
| Superior Court case | The Superior Court has original jurisdiction over felony proceedings and conducts jury and nonjury criminal trials. | Review charging, plea, trial and disposition entries. |
| Arraignment | A court appearance addressing the charge, plea and often bail or release conditions. | Check the order and future hearing date. |
| Pending | The case has not reached final disposition. | Review the newest entry and scheduled event. |
| Dismissed | The court dismissed the indicated charge or case. | Confirm whether every count was dismissed. |
| No information | The Attorney General declined to file an Information in the matter. | Obtain the disposition when formal proof is needed. |
| No true bill | The grand jury did not return an indictment. | Confirm whether any separate charge or case remains. |
| Nolo contendere | A plea of no contest, with legal consequences shown in the court record. | Review the sentence, filing or other disposition rather than describing it as a dismissal. |
| Expunged or sealed | Access is restricted under a court order and applicable law. | Do not infer details from an old third-party listing. |

No. A docket describes activity in a particular court case. A BCI is an official Rhode Island state criminal-history report issued by the Attorney General.

Can I order a Rhode Island BCI by mail?
Yes. Include a signed and notarized release, accepted photo ID copy, $5 check or money order payable to BCI and a self-addressed stamped return envelope.
How long does a mailed BCI take?

No. A Rhode Island state BCI covers Rhode Island records. A legally authorized national fingerprint check is needed when federal and out-of-state information is required.
