Pima County Jail, Arrest & Criminal Court Guide
Find Pima County Bookings, Arrest Reports, Bonds and Criminal Court Cases
A Pima County arrest can create records in several different systems. The Sheriff’s Department maintains the county jail and Sheriff-created reports, Tucson Police maintains City arrest reports, Justice and City Courts handle many limited-jurisdiction cases, and Pima County Superior Court handles felony-level proceedings and other cases within Superior Court jurisdiction.
This guide connects those systems so you can find current jail custody, identify the arresting agency, request an arrest or jail report, check initial-appearance and bond information, search the correct court, review the disposition and understand what Arizona DPS can—and cannot—provide as a statewide criminal-history record.

Start with the record that answers your question
Pima County Arrest Information Is Split Across Jail, Police and Court Systems
A jail booking is not a conviction. The Sheriff’s inmate information answers custody questions. The court record is required to determine what charges were formally filed and how each charge was resolved.
Arrest
The police or Sheriff’s agency creates the law-enforcement incident record.
Booking
PCADC creates the county jail record and inmate identifiers.
Initial appearance
A judge reviews release, conditions and other initial issues.
Court case
The correct Superior, Justice or Municipal Court maintains filed case information.
Disposition
Dismissal, plea, judgment, acquittal or sentence explains the outcome.
Presumption of innocence: Arrest, booking, warrant and charge information are not proof of guilt. Confirm the correct person and final disposition before relying on the record.
Which Pima County Office Controls the Record?
Pima County Sheriff / Jail
- Current inmate lookup
- Booking and housing information
- Jail-record requests
- Sheriff-created arrest reports
- Bond-payment processing
- Visitation, calls, mail and inmate money
Tucson Police / Other Agency
- Police incident report
- Arrest narrative
- 911 or radio records
- Photographs and video when releasable
- TPD arrest-history letters
- Agency-specific public records
Arizona Courts
- Superior Court criminal cases
- Pima Justice Court cases
- Tucson City Court cases
- Warrants and hearing entries
- Judgments and disposition
- Sealing or set-aside petitions
Do not assume every Pima arrest becomes a Superior Court case. Misdemeanors, traffic matters and preliminary proceedings may be handled in Justice or Municipal Court. Felony prosecutions generally move to Superior Court.

How to Search Pima County Jail Bookings
The Sheriff’s inmate lookup lists people currently held in the Pima County Adult Detention Complex. Use it for current custody and location questions rather than treating it as a full criminal-history database.
Start with the legal surname.
Use a broad search first so middle-name, suffix or spelling differences do not hide a result.
Open every plausible match.
Compare available identifying and booking information.
Save the inmate name number.
The name number is used for phone, mail, account and other jail services.
Save the booking number and pod.
These identifiers are useful when requesting jail records or sending approved mail.
Review charge and court information separately.
One booking may involve several charges or cases.
Search the appropriate court.
Use the court case to determine what was formally filed and what happened next.
Two detention locations: The Sheriff currently lists the Pima County Adult Detention Complex at 1270 W. Silverlake Road in Tucson and the Ajo District Jail at 1249 W. Ajo Well Road in Ajo.

How to Check a Pima County Arrest Warrant
The Pima County Sheriff’s FAQ directs people who suspect they have a warrant to contact the court of jurisdiction. There is no single Sheriff page that should be treated as a complete live countywide warrant database.
Identify the likely court.
Superior Court, Justice Court and Tucson City Court have different jurisdiction.
Search the court case.
Look for warrant, failure-to-appear or other current docket entries.
Contact that court.
Verify whether the warrant remains active before taking any action.
Follow the court’s own resolution instructions.
Do not assume that paying money automatically clears a criminal warrant.
Do not confront someone because of suspected warrant information. Warrant status changes and identity errors are possible. Current confirmation belongs with the issuing court and law enforcement.
Arizona statewide history has strict access rules
Can You Run an Arizona DPS Criminal-History Search on Someone?
Not as an ordinary private-person name search. Arizona DPS states that Central State Repository criminal-history records are restricted to authorized individuals and agencies.
Your own Arizona record
You may use the DPS Record Review process to review the accuracy and completeness of your own criminal history.
Employment / licensing
Authorized Arizona agencies can use statutory fingerprint-based background-check processes.
Local clearance
DPS tells users needing a local clearance to contact the applicable local law-enforcement agency.
For your own history, request Record Review.
Use the DPS Public Services Portal or Record Review Packet.
Complete fingerprints.
DPS uses fingerprint-based identification for your own record review.
Submit the required packet or online process.
Follow the current DPS instructions.
Review the response for accuracy.
DPS says the response includes any existing Arizona criminal-history information.
Use the challenge process when information is incorrect.
Do not try to correct a statewide criminal-history error only at the jail website.

Arizona A.R.S. § 13-911
How Pima County Arrest and Criminal Case Records May Be Sealed
Arizona allows eligible people to petition to seal criminal case records under A.R.S. § 13-911. Sealing is different from a set-aside, and Arizona also has a separate marijuana-expungement process.
Build the record list
Gather arrest date, agency, booking location, report number and every court case number.
Check eligibility
Review the offense, disposition, sentence completion and applicable statutory waiting period.
File in the correct court
The required court depends on whether there was a conviction, dismissal, no filing or only an initial appearance.
Verify the order
If granted, criminal-justice agencies process the sealing order subject to statutory exceptions.
Published Arizona waiting periods after completing non-monetary sentence conditions
| Conviction level |
Waiting period |
Important qualification |
| Class 2 or 3 felony |

Sentence conditions and financial obligations must be completed. |
| Class 4, 5 or 6 felony |

Eligibility is still offense- and history-specific. |
| Class 1 misdemeanor |

Other statutory requirements still apply. |
| Class 2 or 3 misdemeanor |

Read A.R.S. § 13-911 before filing. |
If charges were never filed: File in the court where the initial appearance occurred. If there was no initial appearance and no charges were filed, Arizona Courts directs the petition to Superior Court in the county where the arrest occurred.
Sealing does not magically erase the internet. Arizona Courts warns that copies published or distributed before the sealing order can remain accessible outside criminal-justice systems.
