Peoria County Jail, Sheriff, Police & Court Guide
Search Peoria County IL Jail Records, Arrest Reports, Warrants and Criminal Court Cases
A Peoria County arrest can create several different records. The Sheriff’s Office maintains county-jail and Sheriff incident records, the City of Peoria Police Department maintains city police reports and arrest information, and the Peoria County Circuit Clerk maintains felony, misdemeanor, ordinance and related criminal court files.
This guide shows how to search current and historical jail records, check jail bond entries, identify an active warrant, request Sheriff or Peoria Police reports, use the new Peoria County Records Portal, understand Illinois pretrial-release rules, check statewide Illinois criminal history, and follow the case through its final court disposition.

Peoria County Arrest Records Are Split Between Jail, Police and Court Systems
Was the person jailed?
Use the Peoria County jail-record search. The current Peoria public portal includes separate jail-record and jail-bond search functions.
What allegedly happened?
Request the arrest or incident report from the law-enforcement agency that created it—Peoria County Sheriff, Peoria Police or another municipality.
How did the criminal case end?
Use the Peoria County Circuit Clerk’s criminal case records for filed charges, hearings, disposition and judgment.
An arrest is not proof of guilt. A jail record or police report documents an allegation and custody event. The charge can be changed, declined or dismissed, and the defendant can be acquitted. Verify the final Circuit Court disposition before describing the outcome.

How to Search Peoria County Criminal Court Records
Peoria County’s newer Tyler Technologies Records Portal provides searchable court information to the public. County guidance says the service is free and general public users do not need to register simply to search court records.

Use the exact case number when available.
This avoids same-name confusion.
Otherwise search the defendant’s legal name.
Compare all available identifiers before choosing a case.
Review every related criminal case.

Use Search Hearings for scheduled events.

How Peoria County Case Numbers Work in the Current Portal
The current portal provides a specific formatting reminder for case-number searches from 2022 forward.
Part 1 — Year
A four-digit filing year such as 2026.
Part 2 — Case type
A two-letter category code identifies the case type.
Part 3 — Sequence
The sequence number identifies the specific case within that category.
Portal examples: Peoria’s public portal shows examples such as 2022-LM-000001 and 2022-TR-000001. Copy the complete case number from an official source rather than guessing the code.

Peoria County Pretrial Release in 2026: Do Not Assume Traditional Cash Bail Applies
Illinois’s Pretrial Fairness Act changed the release process statewide. Illinois courts began the new pretrial release and detention system on September 18, 2023, eliminating the traditional cash-bail model for new criminal cases.
Cash bail ended
For new Illinois cases, a defendant is not ordinarily held merely because they cannot pay a traditional monetary bond.
Release can have conditions
A judge may release a defendant subject to lawful conditions intended to secure appearance and community safety.
Detention requires court process
In qualifying cases, prosecutors may seek pretrial detention under the statutory procedures.

Why Peoria County’s Website Still Has a “Bonding” Page
Do not read the Sheriff’s Bonding page as proof that every 2026 arrest requires cash bail. Illinois eliminated traditional cash bail for new cases in September 2023. The Peoria Sheriff’s site nevertheless continues to publish payment-oriented bonding instructions that can remain relevant to older obligations, warrant-related payments, legacy cases or other court-directed transactions.

Review Current Sheriff Bonding Page
Treat the page as transaction guidance—not as a statement that Illinois returned to traditional cash bail.

Expungement and sealing are different remedies
Can a Peoria County Arrest or Criminal Record Be Expunged or Sealed?
Illinois provides both expungement and sealing procedures. Which remedy is available depends on the case outcome, offense, criminal history and other statutory rules. A person should identify every arrest and case before deciding which form to file.
Expungement
Removes qualifying records from ordinary public criminal-history access under the applicable Illinois procedure.
Sealing
Restricts public access to qualifying records that may not be eligible for full expungement.
Peoria filing cost
Peoria County Circuit Clerk currently publishes a $144 filing cost for expungement and sealing requests.
Fee waiver
Peoria states that fee-waiver forms are available through the Circuit Clerk and Illinois Legal Aid Online.
Forms were updated in 2026. The Illinois Courts standardized adult Expungement and Sealing form suite was revised in June 2026. Use the current statewide forms rather than a saved older PDF.
