Bond amount The amount associated with the listed charge line. One amount may not clear every case or hold. Add charge-line amounts and confirm the total with booking staff.
$0.00 bond A system-required entry that can reflect no bond, a judicial no-bond order or multiple charges under one case. It does not automatically mean immediate free release. Ask which charge or court controls release.
Closed case The court no longer treats the case as active. “Closed” alone does not show dismissal, conviction or acquittal. Locate the actual disposition document.
Same-name safeguards

Confirm the person before relying on a Wichita record

What a Wichita police-record request can—and cannot—provide

A Kansas Open Records Act request is used to obtain existing public records. It does not require an agency to create a new explanation, answer investigative questions or conduct legal research.

Three-business-day rule: Kansas agencies generally must respond to a records request within three business days. That response may provide the record, deny it with an explanation or state when production is expected. It does not guarantee that a large request will be completed within three days.
No special access merely because you are involved: Kansas open-records guidance states that victims and defendants do not automatically receive special public-record access to closed criminal investigation records. Discovery, subpoena and court procedures are separate.

WPD clearance-letter change: Wichita Police states that it no longer provides conviction clearance letters. Use the court of record for a specific conviction or KBI for a Kansas criminal-history check.

Wichita Municipal Court case and warrant records

Wichita Municipal Court is a limited-jurisdiction court authorized to decide alleged violations of Wichita City Code. It is not the court for every felony or state-law misdemeanor arising in Wichita.

A court date is not changed merely by calling. The judge must approve the change. Until the court acts, the existing date and any active warrant remain important.

Search by case number when possible This minimizes same-name errors and opens the correct proceeding directly.
Confirm the county and case type Make sure the case is filed in Sedgwick County and is the criminal matter you intended to review.
Find the charging document Review the complaint, information or amended information to identify the charges formally filed.
Read docket entries chronologically Follow appearances, motions, hearings, continuances, orders and warrant activity.
Look for diversion or amended counts The original arrest allegation may not match the final prosecution.

How to interpret Sedgwick County bond information

The court controls bond. Sedgwick County explains that the judge or court controls the bond amount, conditions and type. Detention staff display and process the information but do not independently change the court’s order.

Coverage limit: The KBI repository does not contain criminal-history information from other states or federal agencies. A Kansas check is not a nationwide background check.
