What first appearance can change
After an arrest, the first-appearance proceeding may address probable cause, counsel, bond, release conditions and future court scheduling. This is one reason the original jail information can change after booking.
The judge reviews whether the legal basis required for continued detention is present.
The judge may set, modify or address bond and conditions, subject to the charge and other holds.
