Miami Dade County FL Arrest Records Search | Jail & Court 2026

Miami-Dade County, Florida · Booking, arrest-report and criminal-court guide

Follow a Miami-Dade Arrest from TGK Booking to the Final Court Disposition

A Miami-Dade arrest can produce several separate records. Corrections controls the live jail booking, the arresting law-enforcement agency controls the incident or arrest report, and the Clerk controls the criminal court docket.

This guide brings the county’s booking process, bond instructions, release location, property deadlines, jail-mail rules, remote visitation setup, account identifiers, report fees, court-copy costs, hearing schedules and correction procedures into one page.

Use an outside portal only when the final live search, payment, request, visit, certified-copy order or FDLE application must be completed.

An arrest is not a conviction. A booking charge is an allegation entered during arrest or intake. The prosecutor may change or decline the charge, and the court may dismiss the case, withhold adjudication, acquit the defendant or enter another disposition. Never identify a person from a name or mugshot alone.

Choose the record that answers your actual question

MIAMI-DADE CORRECTIONS Is the person in jail now?

Use the inmate search for current county custody, jail number, booking time, housing location, listed charges, bond and mugshot.

Best for: recent arrest, custody confirmation, bond, release, mail, deposits and visitation.
ARRESTING AGENCY What allegedly happened?

Request the arrest form, Offense/Incident Report, probable-cause affidavit, body-camera footage or releasable supplement from the agency that created it.

Best for: incident narrative, officer observations, report number and releasable evidence.
MIAMI-DADE CLERK What happened in court?

Search the criminal docket for formal charges, hearings, amended filings, bond orders, pleas, judgment, sentence and final disposition.

Best for: case status, court dates, dismissal, conviction and certified proof.
Best full-record workflow: Find the inmate, save the jail number and arresting agency, locate the Clerk case, identify the disposition, and request only the specific agency or court document still needed.

Official custody search

How to search Miami-Dade inmates without excluding the correct person

Miami-Dade’s inmate search is for people currently in county custody. It is not a complete historical arrest database and will not necessarily display a person who has already been released, transferred or held by another jurisdiction.

Open the current in-custody search Use the Miami-Dade Corrections search rather than a third-party mugshot or people-search site.
Enter the last name first The county instructs users to enter the surname followed by the first initial or first name. Starting broadly reduces spelling-related failures.
Add the first initial before the full first name When the surname returns too many people, add one initial. Use the full first name only when further narrowing is required.
Try legal and alternate names Test a maiden name, former surname, compound surname, hyphenated form, suffix or shortened first name.
Open every plausible result Compare the date of birth, race, sex, booking time, facility, arrest date, jail number and listed charges.
Save the jail number Miami-Dade also calls this the booking number or inmate identification number in different service instructions. It is needed for mail, deposits and jail inquiries.
Review every charge and bond line One person can have several charges, separate bond amounts or an outside hold. One payable bond does not guarantee release.
Record the current facility Housing can change after classification, court movement, health review or operational reassignment.
Search the criminal court docket The jail result shows booking allegations. The Clerk docket shows formal filings and later court action.
Result decoder

What a Miami-Dade inmate-search result tells you

Custody fields, limitations and practical next actions
Field What it identifies What it does not prove Best next action
Jail number The person’s Miami-Dade Corrections identifier. It does not describe the final case outcome. Use it for mail, TouchPay, calls and Corrections questions.
Booking date and time When the person entered the county booking process. It may differ from the arrest or alleged-offense time. Use it to separate recent and older events.
Location The detention facility currently associated with the inmate. It is not a permanent assignment. Confirm before addressing a professional visit or property question.
Charge The alleged offense entered during booking. It is not proof of guilt and may differ from the prosecutor’s filing. Locate the information, indictment or amended charge in the court docket.
Bond amount The current bond entry connected with a charge. Paying one amount may not clear another charge or hold. Confirm all charges and release eligibility with inmate information.
No bond Routine monetary release is not presently available for that entry. It does not predict what a judge may later order. Review the bond-hearing schedule and court case.
Mugshot A photograph taken during custody processing. A mugshot does not establish guilt or conviction. Use it only with date-of-birth and record-number verification.
Release status A release process or order may be associated with the booking. It does not mean that the person has physically exited TGK. Call the release line before traveling.
Same-name warning: Never send money, notify an employer, publish an accusation or treat a mugshot as belonging to a particular person based on a name alone.
Identity safeguard

Verify at least two identifiers before relying on the record

Full legal first and last name
Middle name, initial, suffix or alias
Date of birth
Booking date and time
Jail number
Arrest or court case number
Arresting law-enforcement agency
Charge and incident location
Same name, different birth date Treat the records as belonging to different people unless the responsible agency confirms an error.
Similar mugshot, different jail number The record number is more reliable than visual resemblance.
Different middle name or suffix Check known aliases, but do not assume a match without another independent identifier.
Incorrect person appears in a record Preserve the result, obtain fingerprints or certified records and use the identity-correction process explained below.
Troubleshooting

No Miami-Dade inmate result found? Follow this order

The arrest happened recently TGK may still be verifying identity, collecting fingerprints, completing medical screening, inventorying property or entering charges.
The name is entered differently Search the surname plus first initial. Try a maiden name, suffix, hyphen variation or alternate spelling.
The person has already been released The online search is for people currently in custody. Search the Clerk’s criminal docket for the case.
A municipal police agency made the arrest Confirm whether the person was transferred to TGK or remains in another processing arrangement.
The person was transferred Another Florida county, FDOC, federal authorities or an extraditing state may now control custody.
A case exists without current custody The person may be on bond, released on recognizance, cited or associated with an older case.
The arrest happened outside Miami-Dade Search the jurisdiction where the arrest occurred, not merely the person’s residence.
The record is restricted Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, victim-protected or otherwise confidential information may be unavailable publicly.
Useful call script “I am trying to confirm whether [full legal name], date of birth [date], is being processed or held by Miami-Dade Corrections. The arrest may have occurred on [date] through [agency]. I have [jail, arrest or court case number]. Can you confirm the current location, whether booking is incomplete, or whether the person was released or transferred?”
TGK intake

What happens after an arrest in Miami-Dade County?

Miami-Dade transports newly arrested people to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for intake and processing.

Identity and personal information are verified Booking staff confirm the person’s identity and enter identifying information into the Corrections system.
Fingerprints and photographs are collected Fingerprints and booking images become part of the intake record.
Medical and mental-health screening is completed Staff assess immediate health, medication, mental-health and safety needs.
Personal property is inventoried Items collected during intake are documented and stored for later release or authorized pickup.
Charges are entered The arresting agency’s charges and available bond information are entered into the jail system.
Housing and classification are determined Classification considers custody, security, medical, mental-health and operational factors.
Bond information is added when applicable Bond may not appear immediately while booking or judicial review is incomplete.
Free booking-process telephone access is available Miami-Dade states that loved ones have access to free telephone calls throughout the booking process.
Processing can take several hours. Intake volume, medical needs, identity issues, charge complexity and outside warrants can all affect timing.

Surety bond

A Florida-licensed bail-bond agent posts the bond and charges a fee under the agreement with the person arranging release.

Miami-Dade cannot recommend a bond company. Confirm that any agent is properly licensed, obtain the written fee agreement and never pay a supposed county employee through gift cards, cryptocurrency or a personal transfer account.

Felony bond hearings

Published Miami-Dade criminal hearing schedule

Other pretrial release paths

Release Own Recognizance

The court may order release without a commercial bond when the person qualifies.

Promised to Appear

Corrections may perform a qualifying PTA release under the applicable process.

Pretrial Services

The county program provides qualifying pretrial release without charging the defendant a bail fee and monitors court compliance.

Release and property

Where Miami-Dade inmates are released and why it can take hours

Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center is Miami-Dade’s designated inmate release center. The county publishes general release hours of 6 a.m.–9 p.m., even when personal transportation is unavailable.

Bond or court authority is received The jail must receive and verify the payment, release order or qualifying pretrial-release instruction.
Every charge and hold is rechecked Another case, warrant, detainer or extradition matter may continue to block release.
Release scheduling is completed The person is placed into the release workflow with others awaiting processing.
Property is prepared Stored property and required discharge paperwork must be reconciled.
The person exits near TGK’s Inmate Release Area Family members should follow posted release-area signs rather than waiting at an unrelated detention facility.
Do not assume payment means immediate exit. Miami-Dade warns that release may take several hours after bond is posted or charges are satisfied because booking, court, payment and release processing must be completed.

Inmate property pickup

Initial storage period

Booking property is generally available from TGK’s Property Room for up to 30 days. An inmate in custody may authorize a representative to collect it.

After 30 days

The property moves to offsite storage. Call 786-263-5355 to arrange retrieval.

Destruction risk

Property unclaimed for 30 days or more after release can be scheduled for destruction under the county’s implementing order.

Property Room hours: Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 3–5 p.m. Property brought back from offsite storage must be picked up within the instructed window or it can be returned to storage.

Criminal court search

How to check what happened after the Miami-Dade arrest

Miami-Dade Criminal Court has Circuit Criminal and County Criminal operations. Circuit Criminal handles felony affidavits of probable cause, indictments and arrest warrants, while County Criminal handles misdemeanor-level proceedings.

Search by case number when available A case number is safer than a name and reduces the risk of combining two people’s records.
When using a name, confirm the date of birth Open each potential match and compare the identifying information with the jail booking.
Determine whether the case is felony or misdemeanor This affects the court division, correspondence suite and hearing process.
Find the charging document Look for an affidavit of arrest, information, indictment or amended filing rather than relying only on the booking allegation.
Read the docket in date order Review bond events, hearings, motions, orders, pleas and trial-related entries.
Check every count separately Different charges in the same case can have different dispositions.
Locate the final disposition Find the dismissal, nolle prosequi, plea, verdict, judgment or sentence.
Order the actual document when the docket label is unclear A short event description may not show the document’s full legal effect.
Common Miami-Dade criminal case terms
Term Plain-language meaning What to verify
Pending The case has not reached a final resolution. Check the newest event and next hearing.
Information filed The prosecutor filed formal charges. Compare every filed count with the booking allegation.
Nolle prosequi The prosecutor announced that a charge would not be pursued at that time. Confirm which defendant and counts the notice covers.
Dismissed The court dismissed a charge or case. Determine whether all counts were dismissed.
Adjudication withheld The court withheld formal adjudication under the case circumstances. It is not the same as dismissal; read the judgment and sentence.
Adjudicated guilty The court entered a judgment of guilt. Review the count, judgment and sentence.
Acquitted or not guilty The person was not found guilty of the resolved count. Check whether another count remained.
Closed The case is no longer shown as active. Closed alone does not reveal the outcome.
Online data is not a substitute for the official court record. Obtain a certified document when the result will be used for employment, licensing, immigration, court or another formal purpose.

What happens after the application?

FDLE reviews statutory eligibility State and national history information is examined under the applicable sealing or expungement law.
Typical review takes about 12 weeks FDLE processes complete applications in received order and does not expedite them.
A certificate is issued or denied The certificate permits an eligible person to petition; it does not itself restrict the record.
The Miami-Dade court petition is filed File the petition, FDLE certificate, required affidavit and proposed documents in the court with jurisdiction.
The judge decides the request Statutory eligibility does not guarantee that the court will grant relief.
A certified order reaches FDLE The record is not sealed or expunged until FDLE receives and processes a certified court order.
One-lifetime proceeding rule: FDLE states that a person proceeding under the main court-ordered sealing and expungement statutes is entitled to one court-ordered sealing or expungement in a lifetime, subject to the statutes and treatment of directly related charges.
Save documents first. FDLE strongly recommends keeping the arrest report, certified disposition, application materials and final order before securing relief.
Sealed versus expunged: The public generally cannot access either record. Certain authorized entities can view a sealed record. With an expunged record, many authorized entities are told that a record was expunged but cannot view it without an applicable court order.

Frequently asked questions

Miami-Dade County arrest-record questions answered

How do I search a current Miami-Dade inmate?

Enter the last name followed by the first initial or full first name in the county inmate search. Compare the date of birth, jail number, location, booking time, charges and bond before relying on the result.

Why is a recent arrest not appearing?

The person may still be completing TGK intake. Identity verification, fingerprinting, photography, medical screening, property inventory, charge entry and classification can take several hours.

Where are Miami-Dade inmates booked and released?

New arrests are processed through Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 7000 NW 41st Street. TGK is also the designated release center, with published release activity between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

How do I pay a Miami-Dade bond?

A qualifying full cash bond may be paid in person through TouchPay at the facility. A licensed bail-bond agent may post a surety bond. Confirm every charge, bond amount, no-bond entry and outside hold first.

What is the inmate mailing address?

Use the inmate’s full name and jail number, Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, P.O. Box 20527, Tampa, FL 33622. Include the sender’s complete return address on the envelope and letter.

How do I deposit inmate money?

Use TouchPay with facility number 233101, the inmate’s exact name and jail number. Deposits are available online, by telephone and through lobby kiosks at TGK, Pre-Trial Detention and Metro West.

How do remote visits work?

The inmate must place the visitor on the Approved Master Visitation List. The visitor then creates a GTL account and allows up to 24 hours for approval before scheduling.

How do I request the arrest report?

Request it from the arresting agency. For a Miami-Dade Sheriff arrest, provide the case number, date, location and involved names to Central Records. Reports cost 15 cents per single-sided page or 20 cents per double-sided page.

How much is a certified criminal disposition?

An individual court document costs $1 per page plus $2 for certification. A certified criminal-history disposition letter costs $7, with a $2-per-name-per-year search charge when the year or case number is unknown.

Can I remove a dismissed Miami-Dade arrest?

Dismissal alone does not remove the arrest. An eligible person must obtain an FDLE Certificate of Eligibility, file the required Miami-Dade petition and obtain a signed court order. FDLE charges a nonrefundable $75 application fee.
