How to find someone arrested in Tennessee today

TORIS is not a statewide live inmate roster. A new arrest normally appears first in the booking system operated by the county sheriff, metropolitan sheriff or local detention centre.

Identify the arrest location Use the city and county where the person was arrested, not the person’s home address.
Identify the arresting agency Determine whether the arrest involved a sheriff, city police department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, campus police or another agency.
Search the county jail roster Use the current-inmate, active-inmate, recent-booking or 24-hour arrest option provided by that county.
Search the legal surname first Try a maiden name, former married name, suffix, hyphenated surname or alternate spelling when the expected person does not appear.
Open every plausible match Compare the date of birth, age, photograph, booking date, control number, booking ID and arresting information.
Call when the arrest is only a few hours old Fingerprinting, medical screening, property inventory and booking-data entry may still be underway.
Confirm bond through the court A jail page may warn that bond amounts can be changed by a judge. Verify the current amount before paying.
Search the court case later The court record may appear after prosecutor review and may contain charges different from the booking entry.
No roster result does not prove there was no arrest. The person may still be completing intake, held temporarily by a city, released before publication, transferred to another county or booked under a different legal-name format.

Tennessee does not provide one complete statewide public search for every General Sessions, Criminal, Circuit and municipal criminal case. Trial-level records remain with the clerk serving the court where the matter originated.

Jail records are not always police reports. Davidson County Sheriff, for example, states that its inmate-record office does not provide Metro police reports, accident reports or mugshots created by the police department.
